About us
S.C.E is the home of eventers Samantha Cesnik and Chris Height, located in Coldstream in the Yarra Valley both riders work from Spring Creek Farm training and teaching, horses and riders of all abilities. Spanning 35 acres, our facility houses 25+ horses at any one time and incorporates an indoor riding arena, extensive private paddocks,10 stables and associated infrastructure. We pride ourselves on providing a high level of personalized service and care to our clients across the key areas of our business- agistment, injury rehabilitation, horse training and coaching. Our business is growing rapidly and we are seeking a groom to join our small but hard working team. This important role will provide continuity of care for horses on a day to day basis supporting Chris, Sam, our Clients and our Property.
The role:
This role is an overflow role covering the basic needs of the horses on the weekends – feeding up, rugging and checking horses (up to 30), mucking out 10 stables and 5 yards, provision of basic health care for horses, customer service and cleaning of the stable area are the key activities. The role is largely autonomous and so significant previous experience in a similar role is essential.
We are looking for someone with the below attributes:
Previous experience in a paid equine role in racing or performance horses is essential, must have resume and drivers license to be considered
Essential Skills:
Weekend availability
Feeding, mucking out and rugging
Good horse handling skills – Stallions and young horses
Driving basic machinery (feed up machine)
Administering oral medication
Checking legs, temperatures etc...
Cleaning/Tidying including horse washing, folding and sweeping
High level of customer service is essential
Applying stable bandages
Drivers license
Ideal but not essential:
Arena grading experience
Experience using an equine treadmill
Ability to administer IM injections
Shift Information
Our casual shifts are: Saturday AM and PM and Sunday AM and PM Weekend availability, particularly Sunday is a must, some weekday work available as needed if desired but weekday availability not essential.
